As we have completed the Atomflow Airdrop pilot, it is time to share some insights. But first we need to thank everyone who participated, helped increase our reach and supported us in any other way. Thank you. Your support and participation was of a great value!

The Atomflow Airdrop is special in some regards:

1. We strictly followed our current “no paid promotions” and “no middlemen” policies.
2. Airdrops are distributed in fully peer-to-peer manner.
3. Airdrops are distributed simultaneously with Atomflow’s coins private distribution.
4. Airdrops are anonymous.
5. Airdrops are not dependent on any other network or blockchain.

The policies put strong restrictions and constrains on our reach as we have to stick to build the community completely organically. Running in parallel with the private distribution puts the distribution itself under ongoing validation. Being peer-to-peer and anonymous puts a lot of operational pressure on us.

Each airdrop is worth ELY 0.25 (current value $158). The airdrop’s primary goal is to increase the decentralization of coin ownership and, in time, the economic output of the Atomflow network as a whole. Initially, we expected to distribute about 400 airdrops. In reality, we distributed 60% more.

Findings

The initial process was not without faults though. We have learnt a lot since then so that we can quicken up getting an airdrop for participators. The most irritating point was that one had to wait for up to 48 hours to get the airdrop after completing the request. We have now reduced this time to up to 24 hours.

Another thing we noticed is that some people who complete airdrop requests abandon the process when they are asked to verify. Carrying out an anonymous airdrop is difficult enough but we still need to know that we are distributing these airdrops to real persons and that each person gets a single airdrop. So we kindly ask people who are going to participate in the next rounds of airdrops to be prepared to verify.

Doing a fully peer-to-peer airdrop independent of exchanges or other blockchain networks is of course more difficult than doing it in the conventional way. We think that benefits outweigh the costs though. The airdrop goal is to boost decentralization and reduce distribution bias so depending on centralized platforms as intermediaries or targeting only people well-versed in cryptocurrencies is not the best way to go.

Next steps

Atomflow Airdrop will continue until Atomflow is publicly released (or until a further notice). It will take place in rounds and each round will distribute up to 500 airdrops on a first-come first-served basis.
