This article is part of the Get to Know Atomflow series, which covers what Atomflow is, its goals and the reasons behind these goals. Ely and Atum are two cornerstones of Atomflow but Atomflow is more than its cryptocurrency and cryptoasset combined, a fact that distinguishes both Ely and Atum and contribute to their values. This part discusses the Atomflow Network Model and Atomflow Infrastructure and how they make the Internet a self-contained platform for economic, social and technological processes and exchanges. This platform is open to people and businesses of different means and needs. Stated more boldly, we show how Atomflow transforms the Internet from an extension of the real world to being one with it and how it creates an open platform accessible to every individual and every business without a man-in-the-middle.
This article is intended for people of different backgrounds, however, we need to introduce a few technical aspects. Namely, how the internet is built at the conceptual level. We touch upon these aspects in a quick manner. The most important point is to know that the Internet is a mega-network composed of several connected networks. Each of these networks operates in similar ways conceptually. Atomflow extends how the network operates and what it delivers.
Network Model
The Internet is built on certain network models of which the TCP/IP model is the most prevalent. The TCP/IP model is shown below.

Each box denotes a layer related to certain aspects of the network. A higher layer depends on layers below. Using these abstractions, networked services of varying complexities can be built in modular and standard ways. The simplicity of the model contributes to its generality and resilience. Websites, email, messaging, calling applications, collaboration applications, online banking, etc. are built on protocols defined in the application layer.
Atomflow Network Model
Atomflow extends the conventional network model by adding a money layer and two protocol suites in the application layer, namely, the platform and processing protocol suites. The money layer transforms the internet from a medium through which services are delivered to a complete self-contained stack for building and delivering services, including, technology, finance and commerce services. The conventional logic for most transactions and businesses is changed in the following ways:
- instead of doing a transaction through a service provider you do it directly in your own or through your selection of service providers if you insist on having third parties involved,
- instead of building a business service with integration to a financial service provider for payments, collections or financing through which your business interacts with customers, your service becomes self-contained with no need to third-party financial service providers and it can provide customers with a variety of services conventionally provided by financial institutions, for example, verification, instalments, etc, and
- global access to investment opportunities and other financial dealings to everyone.
The money layer covers Atomflow’s Ely cryptocurrency and Atum cryptoasset and their derivatives and swaps together with tokenisation capabilities.
The processing protocol suite abstracts two concerns:
- compute engines, storage layers, clouds and serverless architectures to suit different needs from small-scale to global-scale infrastructures, and
- AI infrastructures, including, compute resources, AI models, agents and agents protocols.
The processing protocol suite enables building, deploying and integrating these kinds of infrastructures in a unified manner.
The platform protocol suite is concerned with building and deploying platforms on top of the processing protocols. In particular, the suite is focused on financial, commerce and technology services. Whereas the processing protocols are concerned with computation, platform protocols are concerned with executing and providing business transactions and services.

Atomflow Infrastructure
The Atomflow Network Model is only a model, however. It is not an implementation in its own right. Which brings the other part of Atomflow, namely, the Atomflow Infrastructure. The Atomflow Infrastructure implements the Atomflow Network Model and is composed of several components and sub-parts.

The main components of the Atomflow infrastructure are:
- node software,
- Ely and Atum,
- decentralised network,
- compute engine, and
- network-scale AI.
Integrated Services
Integrated services build upon the platform and processing protocols together with the money layer to provide real-world services. Currently, we are focused on financial and commerce services and work with partners to avail such services.
